Something to THINK about
Master Klaas (SiTU)
When you digest the information I post, Be aware!
Though seemingly global, our systems of measurement, weight, value differ. To compare and further process my program of 100 Monkeys, one should know and interprete the yard, the inch or foot, compared to meters, kilometers and light-years, by heart.
Our moneysystem has ancient roots. 9 to 5 is associated with a normal workingday; 92.5 is the percentage of silver of the British pound. Roman soldiers were payed in “soldi”, referring to an amount of salt.
Some cycles are related to the Sun, 365 days in a year or to the Moon, 360 days.
Christians, Jews and Muslims share one world, but live in different years.
Fahrenheit is something else as Celsius (or Kelvin, popular because it relates to space).
Why important?
Columbus prepared for his journey by studying ancient maps from the East. Part of the Americas (compare Piri Reiss worldmap) were depicted on them (as was the Antarctic, without the ice).
Columbus estimated the distance and prepared for his journey. But after a few weeks, our great discoverer got quite desperate (seeing uso's and so). The crew got paranoid and food was scarce. A muntiny seemed at hand.
Fortunately he was close enough to the Bahama's and the “New World” came into sight.
What took Christoffer Columbus so long?
Our great navigator had made a terrible mistake. Some of the maps, he layed his hand on, were Arabic. These excellent cartographers used the length of an “Arabic” mile, which was considerably longer than the (meditteranean) miles Columbus calculated with.
